Peaceful Dreaming
“Can you hear me?” “Hello.” “Can you hear me?”
Good. They’re asleep.
I walk down the hallway towards their rooms. I know it sounds kind of creepy, but I stand there watching them sleep. So precious they are, like little fallen stars. How they grow like angel souls. My sweet kids tucked away in bed. I’m wondering what they’re dreaming of. Is it ponies, trains, or even airplanes? They seem so peaceful.
“Okay, my angels, sleep tight. God watches you through the night.”
I walk back towards my room and kneel. I pray to God: “Please watch over me, and not just me — my kids as well. Grow them big, and time will tell.”
Amen.

Stronger
You cannot see what you did to me. It takes a simple walking away to make you realize that I’m gone.
Why is it always my fault? Why do I always take the blame? Do you have no shame in the types of games you play? Okay, so you say it ended months ago — then tell me why you still come around and keep texting me. Why do you play with my ups and downs? Do you think you could have me and someone else? Sorry, honey, but that’s not how it goes. You can’t just love me when you feel like it, then expect me to deal with it. You play the victim all the time, and I’m made out to be the bad one. Why is that? Because I became stronger, and just put an end to your games. Watch me, baby, as I walk away.

Baby
I hold you. I adore you. I fell in love with all of you. Tell me I must be dreaming, or am I sleeping? Tell me the angel I see — is it you, baby? The love for you is in my heart and has been there from the start.
My light that shines so bright. Baby, it’s hard to be away from you. It makes my day so blue. In the moments that you are gone, I’m like a lost puppy sitting, waiting — when will you be back? Call me, text me. Tell me you love me. Tell me something.
And finally, you are home. I grin from ear to ear, knowing you are near. I run and jump on the couch, pretending not to notice you are home. As you walk through the door, I fall in love even more.
